with Debbie Maurer, Volunteer Services Coordinator
Good
Samaritan

Are you feeling stagnant or rutted in your same old programs? Maybe you took over someone else’s program,
and you’re ready to put your mark on your organization’s volunteer plan. Debbie Maurer says it’s time for a change!
With the strong competition of today’s volunteer world, loosening the ties to old regimes and gearing up to meet
the volunteers of today is where we all want to be. Debbie will guide us on ways to be more proactive and reinvent
yesterday’s activities for today’s volunteer marketplace.
If you’re looking for new ideas, new contacts, renewed enthusiasm and a “Revelation Kit,” you don’t want to miss
this meeting!

About Our Speaker
Debbie Maurer started at Good Samaritan Hospital in 1989 as a part-time volunteer coordinator. It took almost six
months for them to realize they needed her full-time to work with their busy volunteer operation.
One of her first assignments was to develop confidentiality statements, policies and procedures, and all duty
descriptions. She continues to manage these processes, but now she manages all written presentations, orientation
documents, testing, and preparing for JCAHO.
When she is wearing her program development coordinator hat, Debbie develops new programs with neighboring
schools, organizations, business, and faith-based groups.
Debbie holds a B.S. Edu. from
Wright
State
University and a B.A. from
Ohio
University. She started her career in ?xml:namespace>
the
Dayton area as an English teacher specializing in
Reading.
In her spare time, Debbie volunteers with the Grassroots Campaign for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and
the local chapter, annual walk and Spring black tie event. She is a Host (or reading) volunteer for first and second
graders, and enjoys making costumes for the music department for Newton Local Schools in
Pleasant Hill,
Ohio.
