Presenter Biographies

Jean Griffith has been with The Salvation Army in Central Ohio for 2 ½ years.  She serves as the volunteer coordinator, recruiting and managing volunteers for The Salvation Army's programs and services.  She also helps coordinate fund raising campaigns and special events.  Prior to working for The Salvation Army Jean was a city planner with Burns, Bertsch & Harris, Inc. in Columbus.  She holds a bachelors degree from Wittenberg University and a masters degree in city and regional planning from The Ohio State University.

Alice Hohl is a native of Columbus, Ohio. She attended St. Francis DeSales High School, then went on to complete her bachelor's degree in journalism at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. After graduation, Alice was employed as a newspaper reporter, working her way up to the scrappy South Side Chicago daily, the Daily Southtown. There she broke news on the crime, legal affairs and health beats for five years and was the recipient of several writing awards. Alice freelanced and taught Introduction to Computer-Assisted Reporting at Columbia College in Chicago. After moving back to Columbus, Alice wrote full time for Columbus Monthly while helping to launch a collaborative organization in Columbus that is part of the national Leave No Child INSIDE movement. In 2007, Alice moved from journalism into nonprofit public relations when she accepted a position at The Salvation Army in Central Ohio. There, she administers the Web site, oversees digital strategy for the organization, maintains a presence on social media sites, and produces several print publications. On a volunteer basis, Alice also coordinates a WordPress blog and e-newsletter for the Leave No Child Inside Collaborative. Alice lives in Columbus' Strawberry Farms neighborhood with her husband and their daughter and son. Alice also volunteers with Camp Fire USA (formerly Camp Fire Girls) of Central Ohio, where she has worked as a camp counselor, assisted with fundraisers, and consulted on marketing issues.
