How big is your budget for your Volunteer Program? Do you have enough money to cover adequate training for your volunteers and recognize them for the hard work they do to support your organization? Most Volunteer Administrators would say, "No!" Presenters Julia Boyer and Janet Rife know the challenges of operating a volunteer program on a shoestring budget and will discuss and strategize ideas to help us "think outside the box."
Presenter Bio's: Julia Boyer, VAN Board President, has managed over 1000 volunteers in her tenure with a local humane organization and botanical garden. She has coordinated numerous functions and through trial and error and picking the brains of her colleagues has learned how to successfully plan these events on a minimal budget. Thrifty by nature with a can-do spirit, Julia doesn't let a small budget stop her from completing big projects!
Janet Rife has been the Volunteer Administrator for CAPA for 12 years. The changes she has made to the Volunteer Program since she started has taken the volunteer staff from 600 to over 1000. CAPA staffs 7 venues and now also coordinates the volunteers for the Latino Festival. Janet truly believes in the philosophy, "Where there's a will, there's a way." This positive approach and attitude helps her complete every task assigned to her no matter how big the challenge!
