The Art of Delegation

Date: September 15, 2011
Time: 8:30-10 am
Where: Grange Insurance Audubon Center
Address: 505 W. Whittier St. Columbus, OH  43215
Presenter: Liz Adamshick

Too many tasks, too little time?!  Why not delegate key tasks to volunteers?  But is this really the smart thing to do or should you do it yourself if you want the job done right?  By the end of this lecture and discussion, participants will be able to describe the elements of project design, apply effective delegation strategies to volunteer programs, and coach paid staff who supervise volunteers to delegate effectively.  Please bring a copy of your position description and a volunteer position description from your organization.

Speaker bio:  Liz Adamshick currently directs the volunteer program at Hospice of Central Ohio.  She has 29 years of experience in the field of volunteer management and administration, having directed volunteer programs for Habitat for Humanity, the American Red Cross of Greater Columbus, Columbus AIDS Task Force, as well as in faith communities and university settings.

A graduate of Walsh University in Canton, Ohio, with a degree in Theology and Philosophy, she has also had completed graduate work in theology and youth ministry from both the University of Notre Dame and the Pontifical College Josephinum and holds a Certificate in American Sign Language/Deaf Studies from Columbus State Community College.
